Why Join a Private Golf Club?

Course Access: A limited number of members at a private club means course availability is a real benefit. Weekend morning tee times are always available and quiet afternoons are great for families or practice. Members go out for just a few holes after work or play a few balls on one hole when it is quiet.

Pace of Play: Improved pace of play is one of the leading reasons to join a private club. Public courses pack groups together to maximize revenue while private courses focus on the experience and space groups further apart.  Pace of play is almost guaranteed to be on target at a country club, four hour rounds are typical and some members boast about their three hour rounds.

Course Conditions: Most private golf clubs keep their course in pristine condition and are typically better designed courses.  Private clubs invest considerable time, attention, and money in the course and our club members take better care of their course.

Game Improvement: Members of a private course play more rounds, practice more, and become better golfers.  When each additional round is free you will play more often, plus the driving range and practice facilities are included.  New golfers may benefit the most from the uncrowded times and practice facilities at a private club.

Friendship. That’s the “Club” in golf club. The club experience creates a special circle of friendships and camaraderie that you can’t find anywhere else. A private club means friends you can play with and waving to the other groups on the course. Walking in the clubhouse lounge and patio while feeling at home means a lot.

Competitions and Events. Throughout the season private clubs host a variety of tournaments and events for all ability levels.  Tournaments provide a fun competitive challenge and improve your game.  You can enjoy social golf events and just fun social events.  All events are great ways to get to know other members.

Family. When you join a golf club, your family isn’t left behind. Your family can use the practice facilities and quiet afternoons to learn to play, or you can all meet up at the pool after your round. Members, spouses, and kids all get to know each other.

The Niceties. When the server in the lounge knows your name and your beverage preference, when the golf pro offers you a suggestion on the driving range, when you can leave your wallet at home, and when your children or grandchildren order snacks poolside; these are the little things that make a club special.

Why Pinehaven?

  • Carved through the scenic Pine Bush, Pinehaven is one of the top golf courses in the area.  Its great design makes it accessible to everyone but challenging enough to keep you coming back.
  • Pinehaven’s outstanding layout and course conditions have resulted in its being selected as the host course for the annual Epson Tour $200,000 Twin Bridges Championship, the 2021 NYSGA Women’s Senior Amateur Championship, and many previous State Championships.
  • Seven sets of tees present the appropriate challenge for all playing abilities including our new short tees for juniors or beginning golfers.
  • Our location in the sandy and scenic Pine Bush gives us great drainage and the longest playing season in the area.  We can play right after heavy rains and avoid the muddy season.

  • The most active Women’s Golf Association and women’s tournament calendar in the Capital District.
  • Our membership is friendly and welcoming.  We are more focused on golf and not as cliquey as many clubs.  People from all walks of life share a love of the game of golf and that is at our core and connects all of us.
  • Unlike other private clubs in the area, we have no assessments or hidden fees, and no sales tax on your membership.
  • Pinehaven has complete practice facilities including a full-length driving range and a separate short game practice area with a bunker.
  • The large patio overlooking the 18th fairway and green is one of the most scenic in the capital region.  Most members spend time there after their rounds or for a scenic summer evening dinner.
  • The Pines Restaurant and Bar provides truly great food from casual pub fare to exquisite entrees.
  • Pinehaven welcomes families with our pool, access to practice facilities, kids sports camps, our PGA junior golf program, and special family events (more family information.)
